This is a question we get all the time! But the truth is, there is no average cost. Each home is unique, each person’s budget is different and each person has different ideas of finishes, location and style.
We suggest you think about some of the following items when you think about your budget because it’s not just the home you are building, it’s the extra’s that you need to think about as well.
For example: lot purchase, survey, blueprints, building permits, excavating, gutters, landscaping, septic, well, soil test, decks, patios, appliances, closet organizing, etc.

How many homes has Harltand Construction built?
Hartland Construction has been building homes since 1996. When the company started there wasn’t a focus on keeping a tally of the number of design and build homes built but rather the quality of each home was kept our priority. Today, hundreds of our homes can be found throughout the Coulee Region.

How long does it take to build a home?
Each home and each customer of ours is unique from the other. The amount of time it takes to build a home largely depends on the size of the home, the location of the home, the weather conditions, and the amount of time it takes for a customer to make important design decisions. If all decisions were made by the time we break ground the construction to completion could take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

How much does it cost to build a home?
With the endless amount of options available today it’s impossible to provide an “average square foot cost.” No two houses with the exact same square footage will cost the same at the end of the project. The cost largely depends on the customer’s finishing touches. For instance, granite countertops do not cost the same as laminate countertops and LP SmartSiding does not cost the same as vinyl siding.

Who actually builds the homes for Harltand Construction?
Hartland Construction is not only a General Contractor but is also the builder. Hartland Construction employs a full-time crew who do substantially all the rough framing, siding, carpentry, and trim work. Hartland Construction hires local, reputable, licensed, and insured sub-contractors for the other elements of the project including excavation, concrete work, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and flooring.

Who do your customer’s talk to during the construction project if they have concerns, change requests, or are seeking updates on the project timeline?
The owner and crew foreman for Hartland Construction is almost always found on the jobsite during a regular work day. Available by phone or in person, the customer usually never has to wait long for an answer.

Is Hartland Construction licensed and insured?
Yes, of course. Hartland Construction carries all the proper licenses and insurance to do business anywhere in the state of Wisconsin. The owner and the crew take regular continuing education courses and when appropriate attend product seminars to keep up on the latest products and safety.
